Be a true friend to yourself
Know that you're worthy.
A true friend is someone who accepts you unconditionally. This might be something your parents weren’t able to give you – unconditional acceptance. And you might have unintentionally internalized their message and learned to treat yourself similarly. But that changes now.
You commit to being your own true friend.
Even when you’re tempted to escape from yourself, you’ll stand firm. Whatever thoughts, emotions, physical sensations you will have – no matter how challenging – you will have the willingness to listen to and sit with them.
Moreover, you will support yourself in tough times – which means you will stand by your side emotionally and mentally. You will break free from the habit of zeroing in on negative thoughts and actions. You will know better. You will stop ignoring, neglecting, rejecting, punishing and abandoning yourself. You will look for ways to help yourself.
This is your vow.
You will forgive yourself, for past, present and future mistakes because you are not defined by them. You are generous and compassionate towards yourself.
You will help yourself to grow, by appreciating your qualities while recognizing and understanding your shortcomings. Guided by self-awareness, you will allow yourself to become who you truly are. Your true nature is benevolent.
This is your vow.
Know that you’re worthy.
You deserve this.
