Deep roots, wide wings

Suspended between heaven and earth, we stretch ourselves between our humanness and our spiritual essence.

As humans, we live in a world of flesh and bones, bound by the laws of nature, the realities of time, and the finite nature of our physical existence. Yet, we are also beings of spirit, connected to the vastness of the immaterial realm.

To honor both aspects is not to choose one over the other, but to embrace the inherent dichotomy of our being.

Deep roots, wide wings is a reminder.

Let us grow deep roots into the Earth, firmly planting ourselves in the realities of our humanness. Let’s embrace the full spectrum of being human – the aches, the joys, the challenges. Rooted in our bodies, in our emotions, in time and space, we learn to honor the experiences the material world has to offer. We must be committed to it, not as a duty, but as a sacred offering. Imagine a doting parent building a sandcastle with their child, despite its futility.

At the same time, let us stretch our wings wide, trying the infiniteness of consciousness. Our spirit, our true essence, is not confined to the limits of our body or the structures of this realm. We are the vastness of awareness, the unnameable presence that connects all things.

To live fully as a human and a spiritual being is to honor the laws of the Earth while embracing the expansiveness of the heavens.

It is not about overthrowing, heightening/lowering or ignoring either side but integrating them together.

Through deep roots, we are reminded of our impermanence and the fleeting nature of life, encouraging us to live fully committed. Through wide wings, we are reminded of the timeless, boundless nature of consciousness, encouraging us to live wide open and fearless.

So, let us grow deep roots and stretch wide wings, fully integrating both. Grounded in our humanness, uplifted in our spirit, we become the living expression of the sacred.
