Until You See Your Light: A Teaching on Essence and Awareness

Most of us live with our light hidden. Not because it isn’t there, but because we simply haven’t seen it. Until there is awareness of your true nature – your essence – you will put your light under the bushnell. You will dim it without realizing it.

When you cannot see your own light, your value feels conditional, dependent on others. You may look at others and see them as higher, better, more worthy. You may think you are small, unimportant, or incomplete. Perhaps you call it humility, or modesty – but in truth, it is the shadow of unawareness.

If there is a “sin” in the spiritual sense, it is not one of action or moral failing. It is the failure to recognize your own essence. It is the refusal – conscious or unconscious – to honor the light that is already within you. By hiding your own light, you prevent it from shining in the world. By failing to recognize your own worth, you create imbalance in yourself and in your interactions.

Remember: your light was never lost. It only awaited your awareness. Until that moment, hiding it is easy; once you see it, hiding it becomes impossible.

When you see your light, comparisons fall away. Judgments dissolve. You stop measuring yourself against others. You stop shrinking to fit what you think the world expects. Or aggrandizing yourself to be special, to be seen as someone, to be superior to others. You simply are. You are already enough, already luminous, already complete.

Awakening comes in the moment you truly see your light. It is not something that is given from outside; it is the recognition of what has always been. Every act of recognition, every moment you honor your own essence, is a step out of darkness and into the clarity of your being.

Remember: your light was never lost. It only awaited your awareness. Until that moment, hiding it is easy; once you see it, hiding it becomes impossible.
