This meant that the feast of the Apostle James the Greater, one of Jesus’ twelve disciples, celebrated on July 25, fell on a Sunday.
In Holy Years plenary indulgence was granted.

It is one of the oldest and most popular pilgrimage routes in the world.
Pilgrims have been following The St James Way, also known as "El Camino de Santiago" or "El Camino" in Spanish, to visit the shrine of the Apostle in the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostella in Galicia in northwestern Spain, where it is said that the remains of the apostle are buried.
