Once there was a frog who lived at the bottom of an old well that was filled with shallow water. It was his whole world as he was born there and knew nothing but the well. There was enough water, enough insects to eat, enough shade, so the well frog was satisfied and happy.
One day a frog from the ocean came along and jumped into the well.
The well frog welcomed them and was quite curious.
“Where are you from,” he asked.
“I am from the ocean,” answered the ocean frog.
The well frog didn’t quite understand what the ocean frog was talking about and asked: “What kind of well is that?”
The ocean frog laughed: “It is not a well, my friend. It is the ocean.”
The well frog became suspicious and asked: “Then how big is it, your ocean?”
“It is very vast. There is no way I can tell you,” said the ocean frog, “You have to experience it yourself.”
The well frog couldn’t believe what the ocean frog claimed.
“Well, there sure must be a way to measure it,” he contested.
They took a leap and jumped as high as the quarter length of the well and asked, “Is it this big?”
The ocean frog laughed and said: “No.”
The well frog took another leap and jumped as high as the half length of the well, and asked, “Is it this big then?”
Again, the ocean frog shook their head and said: “No.”
The well frog hopped to the top of the well and said: “Now, …”
The ocean frog said, “No offense but the ocean is still bigger.”
The well frog had enough after all and said: “Get out of here, you liar.”
