Why you are no stranger to me
If we haven’t met, it just means that – we haven’t met. But I know you.
You are no stranger to me. In many ways, you are like me. Not exactly like me, but more or less like me.
No matter what color, gender, religion, or nationality we are, we all feel the same emotions: happiness, sadness, anger, grief, and fear.
Our feelings, our needs, our desires – they are alike, and reveal what we share: our humanness.
We all want safety, and we all want to be loved and approved of.
We all try to avoid pain, and we all don’t want to be treated badly.
Our feelings, our needs, our desires – they are alike, and reveal what we share: our humanness.
Instead of seeing the other as totally different or even strange, we realize that deep down, we’re fundamentally the same. You’re like me, and I am like you. So, rather than focusing on what sets us apart, let’s focus on what makes us alike. And it turns out, it’s more than we might initially believe.
