Coming Home
Are you looking forward to a Christmas homecoming or rather feeling a bit apprehensive? While some of us may be lucky, some of us have experienced in the past that the family holiday gathering can be a roller coaster ride.
Yet, beyond the drama, the complicated feelings, and the unresolved dynamics, ‘coming home’ can take on a whole different meaning.
The infinite, radiant, indestructible aspect of my being that has always been there without beginning or end
For me, ‘coming home’ is actually about reconnecting with myself, with who I truly am. It’s about peeling off the layers of roles, identities, and societal expectations that I’ve taken on throughout life. I dig until what is left is the infinite, radiant, indestructible aspect of my being that has always been there without beginning or end.
Now, if diving into this introspective journey feels at times challenging, I may opt for – what I call – the donkey over the horse.
Then‚ ‘coming home’ becomes a way of staying connected with myself – in my body. Creating a sense of home within involves caring for myself, and after all embracing who I am – fully. This could include activities or practices that bring a sense of worthiness, comfort and serenity. It’s about recognizing and doing things that help me feel grounded and centered.
As for cue [kjuː] and me, it’s about building ourselves a cozy, creative home, cooking and baking, savoring good food, having heart-to-heart conversations, peering into the depths of ourselves, listening to music, watching films, meditating, doing yoga, playing tennis, gardening, handiwork, gazing at the stars, exploring ourselves, learning a new language, learning to play an instrument, singing, dancing, celebrating life, smoking herbs, reading, writing, painting, coding, designing, and capturing the beauty of moments with photography.
