We are so much more than our bodies
We are consciousness, and our true essence extends beyond the boundaries of our physical bodies. Our consciousness is the vital essence that breathes life into our physical existence, functioning as the animating force behind our being.
This lens allows us to comprehend our interconnectedness with others and the larger universe, emphasizing the intrinsic unity of all existence.
Our true essence extends beyond the boundaries of our physical bodies.
However, as humans, we can become overly fixated on our body, , to the point where our identity feels inseparable from them, consuming our thoughts and significantly shaping our sense of self.
Whether we adore it or vehemently detest it, and may even want to harm or destroy it, both our attachment and aversion can cause us to lose our balance. Similarly, an overemphasis on consciousness alone can lead to spiritual bypassing and we may disregard our body and withdraw from life, as some dedicated meditators and yogis do. It’s not easy to navigate this relationship.
We can be overweight, petite, extremely tall with thin legs, or have a six-pack and a muscular body. Regardless of how we feel about our body, it is important to acknowledge that it serves as a vessel for our consciousness and as such needs our care and appreciation.
We are asked to make peace with our bodies by embracing their imperfections and honoring their resilience. It is a journey of self-acceptance, compassion, and learning to care for ourselves.
